Explorer Chick’s mission is to Impact and sometimes we impact by way of others. The Aubrey Rose Foundation reached out to me earlier this spring to ask if Explorer Chick would like to participate in their first Annual City Chicks for Charity event in Cincinnati. After reading about the organization and their purpose, I promised to donate to the silent auction.
The Aubrey Rose Foundation was founded when the three year old daughter of Jerry and Nancy Hollenkamp passed away. In her memory, they created the foundation. Their goal is to aid the families of children with life threatening illnesses. They do this through a variety of efforts including helping families with the medical expenses of their children, organizing dinners for the Ronald McDonald House, and funding their Healing the Worlds Hearts Program in conjunction with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. They have donated over $1 million dollars to families of special needs children!
Explorer Chick is helping by donating a basket to the silent auction during the City Chicks for Charity event. The centerpiece is one of our Overnight Backpacking Workshops for women in the Red River Gorge. The winner will be able to choose from one of the 4 weekends available this September and October. We also tossed in a headlamp, mess kit, trail mix, beef jerky, and more trail essentials. Explorer Chick will be there all night as a vendor with our gear for sale and chatting with the Charitable Chicks of Cincy.
They are also teaming up with Kenzie’s Closet asking for donations of prom appropriate dresses, jewelry, or evening purses. Donors will receive a raffle ticket to be eligible for a trip to Gatlinburg, TN.
We invite all of the Explorer Chicks to come out to the Benefit. Your tickets include Valet parking, food, two drink tickets and a swag bag.
Join Explorer Chick on one of our overnight Backpacking Trips where you will learn the skills and gain the experience to backpack confidently in the wild.
