Overview

Are you looking for something new to get you outside? Are the sun and the water calling your name? Maybe you’re just wondering why anyone would want to do yoga on a board that wobbles and rocks in the water? 🤷‍♀️ Perhaps it’s a little bit of all the above! Reconnect with yourself and nature during this unique Baltimore SUP (stand-up paddle boarding) experience that combines paddling and yoga with an emphasis on full mind-body mindfulness.

The Warmup

Meet us at the beautiful Sparrows Point Country Club, where your experience will begin with a land-based mindfulness practice. 🧘‍♀️ Settle in on a gorgeous lawn overlooking a quiet creek in Sparrows Point, MD. Bring your yoga mat, a favorite notebook or journal and a pen that makes you smile. Your instructor will lead you through a gentle yoga practice to wake up those muscles. She will also lead you with visualization and journal prompts to wake up your mind.

Learn to SUP

Now that your mind is focused and your body is feeling strong 💪, it’s off to the boards! Here’s where you learn the basics of stand-up paddle boarding. Everyone will learn something new here, whether you are a first timer or a seasoned SUPer. Once every Explorer Chick feels comfortable you will get out on the water for a guided paddle tour of Bear Creek.

SUP Yoga

Together, we will paddle to a calm, quiet creek. Here you will anchor your board and experience a FloYo SUP yoga practice. Doing yoga on a paddleboard is not as hard as it looks! Balancing on the unstable board encourages you to be present and intentional with every movement. The practice will engage muscles that you might not use as much in your land-based practice. Experienced yogi? SUP yoga can help you to approach your poses with an open and curious mind and help to re-invigorate your practice. The signature FloYo class consists of vinyasa yoga sequences where SUP sun salutations will flow into lengthening and strengthening poses, balance postures, breathing techniques and even a little play time on the boards.

After a peaceful paddle back to the dock we will have a closing circle to conclude our day of adventure and mindfulness.

*Packages do NOT include your airfare, airport transportation, additional alcoholic beverages, or costs for additional activities.

*Tipping your Guide is optional and not included in the price of your adventure. We recommend 10-20% the cost of your adventure.

*Explorer Chick reserves the option to modify trip itineraries at the discretion of your tour director as necessary due to weather, conditions, illness, injury, group dynamics, or other unforeseen incidents.

  • Duration: Approximate 3 hours depending on group dynamics.
  • Check-in Time: 30 minutes prior.
  • Women-Only, 21+.
  • Yoga mats not provided.
  • Restrooms and changing rooms are available on-site.
  • Board weight limit 295 pounds.
  • No Fees for parking.

Waiver

  • Your Order Confirmation will include a link to the Explorer Chick Smart Waiver. Please take a minute to sign online.
  • You will also need to sign a waiver for B’More SUP when you arrive for your adventure.

Location: 

We will meet at B’More SUP’s Sparrows Point location- located at Sparrows Point Country Club. Enter the main entrance of the country club and drive until you see the big shipping container on the water.

It is best to put Sparrows Point Country Club in the GPS, the physical address sometimes takes people to someone’s house!

Weather Cancellation Protocols

  • If we need to cancel due to weather and safety, you will receive a full refund or an option of a new date. You will be notified by email and/or text if there are any changes.

  • Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
  • Water bottle (can be strapped to the board).
  • Yoga mat.
  • Journal.
  • Pen/pencil.
  • Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting wet.
    • Swimsuits are welcome.
    • Many ladies prefer quick drying workout apparel.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Hat/Sunglasses (strap strongly recommended).
  • Beach towel.
  • Cell phone/camera (optional).
    • Dry bag or waterproof protective case.
  • Change of clothes for the drive home.
