News: Welcome to our New Website and the ATTA Recap!

There is so much goodness going on at Explorer Chick headquarters that I am so stoked to share! ✌ Yep, this is going to be a long post.

First, Explorer Chick got a full blown make-over. Yes, go take a gander and explore the new website.

Right off the bat, you’ll see the new search boxes right on the home screen. You can search by destination or adventure type. You can also use the Adventure drop down to quickly access our most popular adventure categories. If you click on all adventures, well duh, they’ll all be there. But, you can filter until you land on that one perfect, dream adventure.

One major change is that each trip has only one page with a drop down menu showing all available dates. No more scrolling through a main adventure page past multiples of the same trip with different dates. This was a priority in the redesign to improve your booking experience.

Explorer Chick 2.0 is also much more picture rich featuring pictures of YOU on our past adventures. You can also go to trips you have attended and leave a review. Share your story, upload a picture,  and let future Explorer Chicks know what badassery to expect!

Love the site? Let me know! See something that needs improved? Let me know!

Next up, a recap of the ATTA Elevate conference in Banff, Canada.

Holy smokes, Explorer Chicks! It was a powerful conference drawing adventure travel professionals from around the globe to assemble in one breathtaking destination.

I had countless meetings with tourism boards, media, and operators. Each time, I would get asked what type of trips I offer. My response was always the same. There is no theme or set type. Instead, we look at a destination through the eyes of our 8 year old daring selves. We think, “What is the most fun and immersive way to play in this location?” Then we let our imaginations run WILD!

I also beamed with pride when I insisted on no soft adventures. Explorer Chicks are fierce, strong women who expect to return home with a few scrapes and bruises. We are real women who want to embark on real adventures.

A couple of you who have been following on Social Media asked me if Banff will be on the calendar for next year. You betcha! A tentative, badass winter adventure is set. And, so much more is on the way.

Beyond the travel stoke, I really felt the movement of uplifting women. I ice climbed and chatted in depth with Tegra Nuess Stone. She is the photographer responsible for Gettys 2016 most bought “Woman” picture. Hint: Its not a half naked lady in bed. Some of you may remember the article that came out last fall about the evolution of women in stock photos.

Our opening night included a preview of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. The first film played? Where the Wild Things Play. If you haven’t seen this film yet, take a few moments to watch it. (Side note: The crew hunted down a white Lebaron on Craigslist and picked it up in Idaho solely for this film).

Then there was keynote speaker Kevin Roberts who inspired our theme for planning your 2019 calendar: Give Explorer Chicks what they never dreamed possible. It’s empowering us to find our edge so you can push your’s. He also encouraged us to own our crazy. It’s the crazies who are the creators and innovators. (If you can’t tell, we might be a little crazy over here. But in the good way!)

Finally, I am writing to you from the Dominican Republic! Tomorrow, four Explorer Chicks are meeting me here to embark on a tropical adventure in paradise! I’ll post updates to Facebook and do my best to upload to our Instagram story.

Phew! Thanks for stickin’ with me if you’re still reading this!

Adventure on!
