Sponsorship Development Specialist

Explorer Chick is looking for a dynamic and experienced Sponsorship Development Specialist to help us secure at least $30,000 in sponsorship commitments for our annual West Virginia Wild event through direct outreach and collaboration with the marketing and hospitality departments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in securing sponsorships and maximizing sponsorship opportunities and has contacts with corporate America.

  • Position: Sponsorship Development Specialist
  • Job Type: Freelance. Short Term. Part-time
  • Compensation: Minimum $25/hour. Open to additional compensation structures including commission-based to provide financial incentive. 
  • Location: Remote. Set your own hours.

Responsibilities/Outcomes
  • Identify, initiate contact with, and secure sponsorships from potential partners, including corporations, businesses, and other organizations that align with the Explorer Chick Brand with an already completed sponsorship deck. 
  • Accurately convey Explorer Chick’s mission and the opportunities to potential sponsors in such a way that benefits the sponsor.
  • Manage all aspects of event sponsorship activities: including sponsor prospecting, collaborating with the Destination Manager and Marketing department to customize and revise proposals, delivering presentations, and finalize agreements. 
  • Manage and expand the company’s database of potential and existing sponsors and contact information.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to activate sponsorships effectively, including marketing and hospitality.
  • Comfortable with phone communication, including “cold calls”.
  • Obtain sponsorship of at least $30,000.
  • Other duties as specified by the direct leader.

  • Follows up and through with prospects.
  • Generates creative and innovative approaches to problems and ideas. 
  • Thrives in a virtual environment with independence and freedom.  
  • Proven experience in sponsorship development and management. (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using various communication tools such as email and Slack.
  • Excellent project management skills.
Metrics / Expected Results
  • Meet and exceed established sponsorship goals of $30,000
  • Develop an up-to-date database of potential and existing sponsors, including their contact information, with at least 95% accuracy and completeness.
