Adventure is waiting â secure your spot now! What could be better than eating your crumbly Natureâs Valley bar in THE ACTUAL ENDS OF THE EARTH?! This 9-day Womenâs Patagonia hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding adventure will wake up every cell in your body and uncage the part of your soul thatâs been quietly screaming in Zoom meetings. Torres del Paine National Park spreads across nearly 500,000 acres and is a hikerâs paradise. You will hike 40 miles of trails surrounded by soaring granite peaks, glacial lakes, and pristine rivers over the course of your adventure, including two sections of the famed W Trek: The Towers Base and French Valley along with hikes not often frequented by tourists. You will kayak amongst bergy bits in Grey Lake and paddle your way down the Grey River to the confluence of the Serrano, surrounded by epic views of Cuernos del Paine along the way. And Glaciers! TNP has loads of them â from the magical hanging glaciers of French Valley, to the face of the Grey Glacier, the largest glacier in the Southern Patagonia Ice Field. Estancias (ranches) are an integral part of Patagonian Gaucho culture. Youâll ride on a Criollo horse, a Patagonian breed adapted to the terrain across wide-open pampas, sleep for 2 nights in a cozy traditional Estancia, enjoy a traditional Patagonian BBQ (asado), and hike along beautiful trails to overlooks and vistas not seen from the National Park. Patagonia is home to the largest puma population in the Americas. Weâll carefully and respectfully drive to these catsâ favorite hot spots and pause for all the photo ops. Other animal encounters on this adventure: the Colocolo cat, Geoffroyâs cat, condors, grey foxes, kestrel, tucĂșquere, flamingos, wetland fowl, wild horses, grazing cattle and even a sheep shearing demonstration with a working dog! Throughout our Patagonia adventure, weâll rest our weary, adventure-filled bones in a mix of lodgings that truly showcase the regionâs magic. Think tranquil riverside retreats with jaw-dropping views of the Serrano River and Paine Massif, rustic estancias where gaucho vibes meet cozy charm, and boutique hideaways in Puerto Natales with light-filled rooms and glacier views thatâll make your heart skip a beat. Each stop is as unique as Patagonia itself, blending comfort, local flair, and a touch of “pinch-me-is-this-real” magic. This is a challenging, rigorous adventure that your heart is clambering to experience, but your brain might be a little âWTF.â Remember that easy doesnât change you. Your body can do incredible things. With your supportive group of Explorer Chicks and our professional guides, weâll do all the hard things together. It wonât be effortless. There may be some tears. But our time in Patagonia will be with you for the rest of your life. Photos Itinerary Expand All Days Day 1 - Welcome to Patagonia Welcome to Patagonia, where the air feels fresher, the mountains look bigger, and your only job is to show up and soak it all in. Today, you will meet your fellow Explorer Chicks in the charming fjord-side town of Puerto Natales, settle into adventure mode, and kick things off with a Welcome Dinner thatâs part feast, part icebreaker, and all fun! Accommodation: Hotel, Puerto Natales Meals: D Day 2 - Hiking in Torres Del Paine National Park After a delicious breakfast, weâll board the trusty SHE-nanigan Shuttle through Chilean Pampas grasslands to our rugged home for the next five days. Torres del Paine National Park is a crown jewel of public land â bursting with mountains, glaciers, pristine lakes and winding rivers. Paine (pronounced âPIE-nehâ) is the native Tehuelche word for blue and Torres is the Spanish word for towers. So yeah, you arenât going to need your fancy Insta filters. Weâll hike through wildflowers and peer up at soaring condors as we take in panoramic views of Torres del Paine. The highest point of the trail connects to a rarely-trekked path to Weber Bridge in the heart of the park. Afterwards, weâll march our buzzing bodies to our home for the next four nights, complete with a feastly meal full of local flare. Transfer Time from Puerto Natales to Estancia: 2 hours Transfer Time from Trail to Camp: 30 mins Hiking: 9 miles, 970â gain, 5-6 hours Accommodation: Hotel Meals: B-L-D Day 3 - Grey Lake and River Kayaking After a plentiful breakfast, weâll board our Shuttle for a quick 30 minute transfer to meet our professional kayaking guides on the shores of Grey Lake. Weâll get the low-down on paddling 101 before slipping into the lake and two rivers. Our views of the magnificent Paine Massif will be so pristine, youâll wonder if theyâre Photoshopped. Speak the names of some of the most glorious peaks âPaine Grande, the Cordillera Olguin, and Los Cuernos. Awaken new strength in your arms and core as you paddle through floes of ice that have descended from Glacier Grey, the namesake of these waters. These icebergs are scattered throughout the lake and have been sculpted into incredible shapes by the wind and sun, before being pushed to the shores of the lake. After, weâll descend into Grey River, which snakes through deep canyons with steep rock faces and rapids. Fear not, this is still a beginner-friendly paddle! We will continue on past the Paine Massif along the Grey River until it joins with the turquoise water of the Serrano. After a day of paddling, weâll arrive back at our hotel ready to rest our muscles, gorge our bellies and laugh like hyenas. Transfer Time: 30 Minutes Kayaking: Up to 15 miles. 6-7 hours Accommodation: Hotel Meals: B-L-D *To kayak, you must be under 250 pounds Day 4 - Hiking in the French Valley Itâs legs day, Explorer Chick! Weâll depart our camp at 9AM for a round-trip hike in the French Valley. Our loyal SHE-nanigan Shuttle will be waiting to escort us on a 45 minute transfer over a gravel road all the way to Pudeto Pier at Lake PehoĂ©. Here weâll take a 35 minute catamaran to the Paine Grande area. Our spectacular destination, the French Valley, is a natural basin surrounded by peaks and hanging glaciers. Weâll be greeted by a glacial moraine at the entrance and scramble over huge boulders to catch the first sight of the hanging glacier atop the valley. NBD, just being awesome over here. Weâll ascend for an hour through a dreamlike Japanese garden landscape before arriving at the French Valley viewpoint aka the âPlateauâ. Our reward is a heart-stirring condorâs view of MORE granite peaks and hanging glaciers. To one side, the French Glacier and Paine Grande (10,056âČ). To the other, La Espada, La Hoja, La MĂĄscara and the main and north âhornsâ of Los Cuernos arching into the sky. There are so many summits to spy here, it feels like attendance day in homeroom. Cerro Catedral? Here! Cerro Fortaleza? Here! These peaks loom like turrets above the landscape, and youâll start to wonder if all the GOOD tectonic plates decided to migrate here. Weâll scarf our chef-prepared organic box lunches at the viewpoint, surrounded by imposing peaks and open sky. Depending on the weather conditions and group vibe, we can continue to the Britanico Lookout which offers impressive 360 degree views. We return the same way we came to enjoy a well-deserved dinner. Transfer Time to Pudeto Pier: 45 minutes Catamaran to Paine Grande: 35 minutes Hiking: 10 miles. 1,950â gain. 8-9 hours Accommodation: Hotel Meals: B-L-D Day 5 - Condors and Guanacos and Pumas Where are our Planet Earth nerds at?! Early in the morning after a hearty breakfast, weâll hop on our Shuttle for an hourâs drive to meet with a local puma tracking guide. (Itâs impossible to say that casually.) Our destination will depend on where the pumas were last spotted, but generally they are found near a nature trail along the border of Lago Sarmiento and Juncos Lagoon. Board the van and get your cameras ready! Weâll alternate between driving and hiking on an easy/moderate trail where guanacos (cute puma food) are found. If we spot a puma (or a family!) we will spend just enough time to take photos without disrupting their routine. Weâll continue to track these spectacular felines while hiking sectors of the park, making our way to Laguna Azul to creep on waterfowl preening and fishing in the wetlands. We will be treated by exceptional views of Torres del Paine in the distance and the ever-changing Patagonia sky. After a dishy picnic lunch, weâll make our way back to the Serrano sector for our last nightâs dinner and rest at the this hotel. Guided Puma Tracking By Van: 4-5 Hours Hiking Distance: 4-5 miles. 300â gain. 3 hours Accommodation: Hotel Meals: B-L-D Day 6 - Hike to the Base of Las Torres Wave goodbye to our incredible views along the Serrano River! An early morning transfer to the Las Torres sector of the park is where weâll begin our trek to the iconic Base of Las Torres. Our initial climb follows the Ascencio River into the Ascencio Valley. After about an hour, weâll stop to observe how the valleyâs beauty unfolds with rich beech forests, glaciers and waterfalls. Past this lookout point, we continue uphill and through lush beech forests before ascending a gigantic terminal moraine, which is the ridge formed at a glacierâs end point. Here is where we witness the money shot of the three Towers themselves. Weâll pause at this lookout point 2950â above sea level, have a rest, take photos and snack like weâve never snacked before. Our descent is along the same path, taking us back to our Shuttle which will take us onto our next two overnights to a cozy traditional hotel in the Cerro Castillo region. Transfer Time to Las Torres: 2 hrs Transfer Time to Cerro Castillo: 45 mins Hiking: 13 miles. 3,330â gain. 8-9 hours Accommodation: Estancia Lodging in Cerro Castillo Meals: B-L-D Day 7 - Horseback Riding and Gaucho Culture Today, we will visit a gorgeous Estancia that is actively protecting one of the most biodiverse regions in Patagonia. It is home to puma, the Colocolo cat, Geoffroyâs cat, birds of prey, and a host of other creatures, including armadillos, guanacos, caiquenes, skunks and woodpeckers. Weâll learn more about the Estancia culture through a guided tour as well as the work of the Gauchos as we saddle up for our dayâs adventure. We will ride on Criollo horses, a Patagonian breed that is highly adapted to the terrain â AND HIGHLY CUTE. These Criollo are lucky enough to roam wide-open pampas, green southern beech forests and the rugged coastline with a gaucho and our guide. No previous horseback riding experience is needed, but this wonât be a slow pony ride! We will be riding guacha-style past native flora, fauna and an archaeological site. After we give our Criollo a loving snout rub goodbye, weâll settle in for a sheep shearing demonstration (compete with working dogs!) and enjoy a delicious traditional Patagonian barbeque aka asado at the Estancia. Life is good, mi Amiga. Transfer to Estancia: 45 mins Estancia Tour: 4-5 hours Horseback Riding: 2-3 hours Accommodation: Estancia Lodging in Cerro Castillo Meals: B-L-D *To ride horseback, you must be under 200 pounds Day 8 - Walk the Baguales River Our last day is all about soaking in Patagoniaâs magic, one scenic view at a time. After breakfast, weâll jump aboard the trusty SHE-nanigan Shuttle and cruise past the coastline of Puerto Natales, spotting charming ranches and wildlife along the way. Keep your eyes peeled for ñandus (Darwinâs Rhea), flamingos, skunks, foxes, and grazing sheep dotting the endless landscapes. Then, itâs time to saddle up â on e-bikes! Weâll pedal through Puerto Natales, past Puerto Pratt and Puerto Consuelo, with the sparkling Ultima Esperanza Sound as our sidekick. As we ride along gravel and paved roads, youâll take in views that will make your heart soar and your legs forget theyâre working. Our grand finale? A hike through the prehistoric MilodĂłn Caves, marveling at their rugged beauty and ancient secrets â a perfect way to end an unforgettable adventure! Weâll return to Puerto Natales for the evening. Prepare for an epic, boisterous, super emo farewell dinner. Trails can be rough and uneven, with weather that loves to throw all four seasons at you in a single day. While weâll be hiking near sea level (no altitude adjustments needed â hooray!), expect long days on your feet, steep climbs, and some serious leg-burning moments. Training is the key to having an amazing time on this trip! The stronger you are when you arrive, the more fun youâll have each day. Weâll mix in rest days and varied activities to give your muscles a break, but this is not the kind of trip where you can âwing it.â Showing up prepared will make all the difference, especially on Day 6âs big challenge: the Base of the Towers trek. This beast is 13 miles, 3,330 feet of elevation gain, and 8-9 hours of hiking over steep, rocky terrain. The reward? One of Patagoniaâs most jaw-dropping views. Getting there takes endurance, grit, and strong legs, so start training now â future-you will thank you. And just so we’re clear, NO SKIPPING LEG DAY, ladies! And donât forget your upper body! If you arenât a regular paddler, youâll also want to focus on core and shoulder strength. On Day 3, weâll be kayaking up to 15 miles through flat waters and winding rivers. A strong core and steady arms will turn this into an epic day of paddling past glaciers instead of a struggle against sore muscles. Think of it as your chance to train like a fearless explorer â because, well, you are! Daily Activities: Day 2: Hike. 9 miles. 970âČ elevation gain. 5-6 hours. Moderate. Day 3: Kayaking Day. In Her Words Jen I.Anna & Kara-Great guides and hosts on my glamping trip to Smoky Mountains.Rachel R.Just finished up 10 days on the most extraordinary trip of my life. Uganda was so amazing all round - the animals, the people, the culture. Nicki was an amazing guide, Gerald our driver had all the answers I could throw at him, and everyone in the group was chill and fun and felt like best friends within minutes. We stayed in the most beautiful and posh places and saw wildlife closeup like we were in a freaking national geographic magazine. How many people have seen a family of endangered mountain gorillas with a 6 months old baby doing acrobats in the heart of the impenetrable forest? Me! Crazy and amazing. I can't believe I got to do all that I did. And the best part is I was just along for the ride and didn't have to plan all the nitty gritty details. Love you Uganda! I'll be back.Danielle D.I had a great first experience with Explorer Chick. We were a group of 7 women plus 2 two guides on our weekend trip to Shenandoah NP. Our age range was 40s to 70s. The itinerary was modified for the late-season lack of evening daylight, so our hikes were cut a bit shorter than what they should have been. We also made some changes to our starting points which meant more driving - more time in the van than expected. We probably could have stayed in one lodge instead of two different lodges. Aside from those changes, the overall trip was a great experience. I consider myself in decent shape and after 3 days of hiking, my legs were sore! The hikes were on rough, rocky terrain, and we were constantly hiking on an incline, up or down, so prepare your calves! Make sure you have good ankle support on your shoes. Lodging was as expected for park lodging. The breakfast and dinners were very nice - decent selection and big portions. Lunch on the first day was premade sandwiches from Trader Joes with chips and a piece of fruit. Lunch on the 2nd day was cheese and cracker tray at the winery, but there was plenty to go around. We had the most amazing weather for mid October - we started out the mornings in jackets and even gloves, but by mid-afternoon most of us had stripped down to short sleeves. Everyone was mostly at the same pace during the hikes. On the uphill climbs, just speak up when you need a break to catch your breath. The guides were very nice and accommodating to the group, they kept us on schedule and kept us informed of the itinerary for the day. I would go on another EC trip but would be mindful of the activity level. This trip was a 2, I'm not sure I could handle longer hikes for more than 3 days.Robin H.Torres Del Paine W-Trek team was so unified on this journey. Lead by Explorer Chick Guide Kirstie M who brought energy, support, & built camaraderie among us 8 women. Chilean Guides Dani & Cati complimented the team with their wealth of local terrain knowledge. We experienced fabulous weather daily to have full view of every peak on this trek. This trip was absolutely incredible for me personally âboth challenging and filled with countless awe-inspiring moments along the trails. Itâs truly been a transformative experience, redefining what I can accomplish solo traveling a foreign country @ 60yrs + Type 1 Diabetic >50yrs.Iâm ready for Explorer Chick Challenging trip #2!Marjorie H.November trip to Iceland was magical.Guide Christina Bruno and Explorer Chick put together a fantastic itinerary. Diamond Beach is a must see.susan V.I went on the most amazing trip to Jordan this past October. I can't even begin to describe the surreal feeling of standing in front of the Treasury in Petra, riding a camel through the expansive Mars-like desert, and floating in the dead sea. This was my first Explorer Chick trip and let me tell you it did not disappoint. EC guide Kara was phenomenal with great organization and special surprises along the way. Can you say pedicure in a Turkish spa? So many firsts that I was able to experience and absolutely no need for concern about solo travel with this group. None of us knew each other beforehand, yet within hours we had our own inside jokes. Seriously, do not let the idea of traveling alone keep you from experiencing these phenomenal tours. Also, there was never a time that I didn't feel safe. Jordan is a beautiful country with the most hospitable people. We were constantly greeted with warm smiles and coffee or tea! Our lovely local EC local guide welcomed each of us and passionately shared her extensive knowledge of her country and culture. My EC trip to Jordan was a dream adventure come true. My only problem now is deciding which EC trip to take next!hannah B.Now I've....had...the time of my liiiiife....and I owe it all to Explorer Chick! Me and three friends went on the Zion/Bryce trip and it was absolutely amazing! Our guides, Christina and Ashley, made the trip so amazing and had little fun surprises set up for every day. I would take this trip time and time again, but I'm hoping after I take more EC trips!Abigail H.I just finished my first Explorer Chick trip to Iceland, and it was seriously a bucket list experience! I was really nervous, but the other women on the trip and our guides (Christina from EC and our Icelandic guide Dagny) made it such a wonderful time! I made so many friends and memories, tried things I never would have otherwise, and got to support other women while they pushed themselves too. Iâm already looking at booking another trip haha. For info - Iâm 32 years old. The other women on the trip ranged from 31 to 74 and everywhere in between. I loved getting to meet all of them and look forward to staying connected with these amazing women. ❤️Vicki O.Great hiking trip. Each trail was different and challenging. Hannah and Christina took so very good care of us. They paced the hikes so that everything seemed easy.Quincy S.How can a person rate or review what finding a little bit peace and clarity is like?I have had the pleasure of being on two EC trips since October 2024.My first trip was in October of 2024 to Moab with guides Katie and Nikki. That trip changed my life.It is my belief that everyone signing up for an EC trip is searching for something. It just happens to be a little different for everyone.I happened to be searching for me.Who would have guessed that I would find her in the quiet and in the beauty of Utah with a group of strangers. That trip reminded me that I am not just a wife, and momma. It helped me to filter out most of the crap floating around in my head and just focus on me for a few days.My second trip with EC was in September of this year with Christina and Nikki in Yosemite.Christina and Nikki, were the perfect guides for that trip, they were just what I needed. (shoutout to Nikki for being on my last trip and remembering that I love to eat PB sammies on white bread while I hike!)Yosemite with all of the women on that trip was an experience I will never forget, because I almost didnât go.But I am so glad that I did.I needed all of it, the adventure, the laughs, the beauty, and the opportunity to feel a little more like myself.Pressing pause on home life and getting out of your comfort zone takes some courage, but with the help of EC and some absolute kick ass women I did it and so can you.Thank you, EC, for helping me find a little more of myself of these amazing trips.QuincyAmy RThis was my second trip with Explore Chicks and I loved both adventures. Lauren, our EC guide, and Dina, owner of Mountain Shepherd Survival School, were both spectacular - knowledgeable and fun! The other eight women on the trip were also so much fun! Everything was throughly and impeccably organized.Looking forward to my next trip!Norice R.We had a wonderful eight day trip to beautiful Iceland seeing many wonderful places. I highly recommend this trip and our amazing guide Christina. Christina was professional, friendly, caring and full of facts and adventures. The food was wonderful also. As with previous EC trips, I would score this trip a 100/100!! 😊Gypsey B.I went to Jordon this fall with a small group of explorer chicks. What an absolute treat! My best trip ever. Learning the history of the region was mind blowing. People we met were welcoming and kind. And, in true EC fashion, we had so many wonderful adventures with our terrific guides, Kara and the local âchickâ, Ahlam. From hiking up the beautiful Wadi Rum & floating down on our backs, looking up the rust colored canyon walls to the blue sky peeking out, pinching myself to remind me that Iâm half way around the world with truly fabulous womenâŠ.to meeting shepherds and Bedouin babes on our hike to Petra to eating under the stars, the most delicious food that I tried to emulate in my own home kitchen (didnât hit like the original)âŠ.. the camel ride, sleeping under stars, Dead Sea soakâŠand sooo much more. Waking up in the Dana reserve to watch a shepherd lead his flock into the steep canyon basin was a treat, quietly reminding me that we truly donât need much but wonderful experiences that leave memories of magical places and time. And, that my friends, is what this travel group provides.carrie P.Amazing trip to Va !!! Lauren led us on an epic journey through the day and night. We learned so much at the MountainShepard Adventure School. Looking forward to hiking with my new tools.JoyLet me begin by saying, I was always looking at these trips but did not believe I was outdoorsy enough to do them. My sister and friend pulled the trigger for the Iceland trip and so I followed suit. Truly the best decision ever! This was a bucket list trip that I will never forget. I did things that made me realize I am outdoorsy, I met new people that I truly hope I stay in touch with forever and see again on future trips, and learned just how much the explorer chick company cares. Our guide, Christina Bruno, set the stage from the beginning as this trip is for us-- the travelers -- and it truly turns into what you make of it. She was helpful, organized, prepared to help in any situation, and also wanted to get to know us and feel valued throughout the trip. The trip is life changing and the people that make these trips happen are amazing. Thank you Christina for all your organization and sharing about Explorer Chick. Thanks for your positivity, encouragement, and laughter! Thank you to all of the ladies on my trip as well! I felt seen, empowered, and will never forget the laughs!
