Iceland Northern Lights and Hot Springs Adventure Tour

This 7-day women’s multisport adventure trip to Iceland will slap over-worked fatigue away to make room in your soul for jaw-dropping beauty, incredible women, and the most delicious gas station Pylsa (hot dog) you will ever eat.

Trip Highlights

• Road trip the famous Golden Circle in the SHE-nanigan Shuttle, chasing waterfalls, geysers, and glaciers
• Go beyond the guidebook to ice climb and glacier trek on one of Europe’s largest ice caps
• Rip across black sand beaches in an ATV to find the iconic DC-3 plane wreck
• Soak in three steamy hot springs: a remote river valley spring, the Secret Lagoon, and the swanky Sky Lagoon
• Hunt the Northern Lights from remote Icelandic guesthouses
• Visit Gulfoss, Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach, and more

The Vibe

We’ll chase waterfalls, trek across glaciers, let out a deep “ahhhh” in hot springs, and spend each night searching for the perfect Van Gogh sky. (We travel during the Northern Lights season, baby!)

With a local guide and your Explorer Chick leader at the wheel, we flex the plan daily based on weather and daylight so you get the best vacation. We’ll be sure to stop at local favorites too for ice cream, shopping, and craft brews!

A Note About The Northern Lights

While the Northern Lights are a bucket-list highlight, they’re also famously unpredictable. Sightings depend on weather, solar activity, moon phase… and a little bit of luck. We can’t guarantee a show, but we only run trips during Northern Lights season for the best chance at catching them. One thing is certain: this winter adventure is packed with natural wonders that are just as awe-inspiring, whether or not we see the aurora borealis.

• Pick Up Location: Rendezvous Hotel.
• Meeting Time: 5pm on Day 1

Departure

• Airport City: Reykjavík, Iceland (KEF)
• Drop Off Location: Airport
• Return Time: Depart at any time after 4pm on Day 7

You will receive a Travel Guide with all the rendezvous hotel, airport transfer information, packing, and additional information you’ll need to prepare for your epic trip.

A passport that is valid for at least 6 months past your arrival date is required.

We require a minimum of 6 Explorer Chicks for this trip. Please confirm your trip is guaranteed before booking airfare.

Rated 2 – MODERATE ACTIVE

Your Iceland Adventure is geared toward viewing the Northern Lights, seeing the south coasts best landmarks, and enjoying the best of what Icelandic winter’s have to offer. Although we rate this trip as Moderate Active, you will still spend quite a bit of time on your feet – including in crampons!

Daily Activities:

• Day 1: Optional Walking Food Tour: 3-3.5 hours walking in Reykjavik with lots of stops for food tastings!
• Day 2:  Hot Springs. 5 miles. 1,138′ elevation gain. 2.5 hours.
• Day 3:  Walking + Exploring. 3-4 hours
• Day 4:  Glacier Hike and Ice Climbing. 3-4 hours on the Glacier,   1-2 miles in crampons on the ice. PM: Walk to waterfall, optional 520+ steps to overlook.
• Day 5:  Walking + Exploring. 3-4hours
• Day 6: AM: ATV. PM: Walking and Exploring. 1-2 hours

Please consider your ability to meet the physical demands very seriously. It is for the safety of both you and our group. All Explorer Chicks will be required to sign an Acknowledgement of Physical Demands as part of their waiver upon booking.

Lodging

• 2 nights Reykjavik Hotel (Shared – 2 per Room) – Casual boutique hotel centrally located within walking distance to pubs, shops, and sites. Ensuite bathrooms, hairdryer, bar and lounge on site, TV, Wi-Fi.
• 1 night Laugarvatn Hotel (Shared – 2 per Room) – Cozy Scandi-chic rooms located on the Golden Circle. Ensuite bathrooms, bar, Wi-Fi.
• 3 nights Authentic Iceland Guesthouse accommodations (Shared – 2 per Room). Guest rooms vary in size, all have an in-room sink and hairdryer. Shared bathrooms down the hall. Bar and lounge, farm-to-table restaurant on site.
• Limited Single Room Upgrades (2 available). For our Explorer Chicks who wish to have their own room for the duration of the trip.
