This women-only, small group adventure tour packs a winter’s worth of activities into one long weekend. Trip Highlights Drive your own dog sled through the Bow Valley after helping harness the pups Cross-country ski through the snowy wilderness on a secret backcountry trail Snowshoe to the cozy, remote Elizabeth Parker Hut in Yoho National Park for an unforgettable overnight stay Sip cocoa in an alpine meadow near frozen Lake O’Hara with zero crowds and all the sisterhood Enjoy hotel hot tubs, baked treats, campfires, and downtown Banff in between snowy thrills The Vibe This is not your average winter weekend! Expect hot drinks, cozy cabins, wild landscapes, new outdoor skills, and a cinematic taste of backcountry Canada. Between adventures there will be just enough downtime to explore Banff, relax in the hot tub, and bond with your new wild-heated best friends. Photos Itinerary Expand All Days Day 1 - Dog Sledding in the Canadian Rockies Welcome to Calgary! Your adventure begins first thing at our Rendezvous Hotel – come with a full belly. You’ll be greeted by your Explorer Chick Leader with an official orientation to follow. We’ll then hop into our Explorer Chick Private Transport for a 1.5 hour drive to meet the dog sled team in Kananaskis Country. After introductions and instruction, you’ll drive your sled for the next hour amidst vast mountain ranges, streams, rivers, glaciers, lakes, ponds, and towering forests. No big deal – you’re just a tundra goddess. We’ll say so long to our sled dog team and we’ll drive to snow globe town of Banff to check into our hotel. You’ll have time to settle in before we head out for an unforgettable dinner featuring regionally-sourced ingredients and panoramic views. Meals: L, D Day 2 - Cross Country Skiing in Banff National Park Devour a lumberjack-level breakfast at the hotel before loading up your daypack and venturing out to the snowy trails! Our first stop is the gear shop to get everyone fitted with cross-country ski equipment. No worries if you’re new to the sport – you’ll get a full introduction to your skis. After instruction, we’ll explore Pipestone Cross Country Area which has some of the best snow and most undiscovered trails. It’s the greatest place to fall on your tuckus since everyone will be too distracted by the Canadian Rockies to care. In the evening we’ll head out in town for another tasty, hearty meal together. Bring your swimsuits, there’s a hot tub at our hotel! Accommodation: Downtown Banff Hotel Meals: B, L, D Day 3 - Snowshoe to a Backcountry Hut in Yoho National Park Enjoy one more breakfast at our cozy downtown Banff Hotel before getting fitted and geared up for our overnight snowshoe in Yoho National Park. You’ll borrow a 70L backpack and sleeping bag for the next two days. Pack light – we’re hulking everything on our backs plus shared gear and food. We’ll then load up the she-van to drive to the Lake O’Hara trailhead. It’s a straightforward snowshoe to our idyllic log cabin hut. You’ll wonder if you just stepped onto a movie set as you’re surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the Canadian Rockies. Just wait as the sun dips below the Canadian Rockies and the stars crackle across the sky. Enjoy a night of unplugged girl talk – there’s no WiFi, baby. Distance: 7 miles Elevation Gain: 2,150 ft Hiking Time: 5+ hours Accommodation: Alpine Hut Meals: B, L, D Day 4 - Snowshoe out and Return to Calgary Back to reality. Take on last big mountain air inhale. We’ll reverse our route from the day before snowshoeing out and dropping off gear. Then, we’ll return to our Rendezvous Hotel in Calgary. You can expect to be back around 4pm. Hiking Time: 3-5 hours Distance: 7 miles Meals: B, L Logistics What to Pack Check out our recommended hiking gear for all trips. You’ll receive a complete packing list in your Travel Guide upon booking; note that winter trips may require additional specialized items. Arrival Airport City: Calgary, Canada (YYC) Pick Up Location: Lobby Rendezvous Hotel, Calgary Meeting Time: 7:30am on Day 1 Departure Departure City: Calgary, Canada (YYC) Drop Off Location: Rendezvous Hotel Return Time: 4pm. Fly out after 7pm on Day 4 You will receive a Travel Guide with all the rendezvous hotel, packing, and additional information you’ll need to prepare for your epic trip. We require a minimum of 6 Explorer Chicks for this trip. Please confirm your trip is guaranteed before booking airfare. Our 2026 Banff Winter trip is confirmed. Activity Level 2 – MODERATE ACTIVE This trip is rated a 2 because of the lengths of the daily hikes, however the final 2 days do involve backpacking to and from Alpine Huts on snowshoes. Not only will you be carrying approximately 30lbs of your own and shared gear, but you’ll be doing it on snowshoes in the snow. The snowshoe is a gradual uphill for 7.5 miles. The surface will be uneven and the pace slow. All of our days will be spent entirely outdoors playing in the snow. If cold is not your thing, then maybe this adventure isn’t for you. Please consider your ability to meet the physical demands very seriously. It is for the safety and enjoyment of both you and your group. All Explorer Chicks will be required to sign an Acknowledgement of Physical Demands as part of their waiver upon booking. Read more about our Activity Levels. What's Included Lodging 2 nights downtown Banff Hotel accommodation with mountain views, 2 outdoor hot tubs, steam room, sauna, outdoor fireplace, Wi-Fi, hot breakfast, and within walking distance to local shops and restaurants. Shared 2 per room. 1 night backcountry alpine hut in Yoho National Park. Backcountry huts sleep up to 20 guests in bunk-style accommodation. Bunks are in one room, mixed gender. There will be other outdoor folks sharing the hut with us. No electricity. Composting toilet outhouse. No Wi-Fi. Remote and Rugged! Helping with meals and clean up is expected and part of the mountaineering experience.
