One of our local reps will be waiting to greet you like Beyoncé—bags handled, comfy private ride waiting. At check-in, you’ll be gifted your Explorer Chick trekking duffle, neck gaiter, and a cozy borrowed sleeping bag. After you slip into your dinner pants, we’ll gather for a one-hour welcome meeting to run through trek details, safety guidelines, and all those questions that popped into your head somewhere over the Pacific. Then it’s time to feast on the warm spices of an authentic Nepali welcome dinner before chilling on the rooftop pool deck and crashing into bed. Tomorrow? We board the chopper. Max Altitude: Kathmandu – 4,593 ftAccommodation: 4* Hotel Meals: Welcome dinner Day 2 – Kathmandu to Lukla by Heli + Trek to Phakding Before the sun is up, we skip the five-hour drive and sketchy Lukla flight with a private helicopter straight from Kathmandu. In just 45 jaw-dropping minutes you’ll be soaring past Himalayan giants—Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam—while your camera roll goes spiritual. Touch down at the legendary Tenzing–Hillary airstrip, where bragging rights come baked into the runway. Our porter team will meet you here—one porter for every two trekkers—so you can sip a hot tea, snack like a Sherpa, and breathe in your first mountain air. From Lukla, it’s a gentle downhill walk to ease your legs into the journey. We’ll meander along the Dudh Koshi River, through pine forests and rhododendron groves, past prayer-flag-draped mani walls and tiny Khumbu villages. By afternoon we arrive in Phakding, a peaceful riverside village that feels like the calm before the (beautiful) storm. Max Altitude: Phakding – 8,563 ftTrekking Distance: 5.1 mi, 3–4 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected TeahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 3 – Trek to Namche Bazaar After a hearty breakfast in Phakding, we follow the Dudh Koshi River deeper into the heart of the Himalayas. The trail is disrespectfully pretty: pine-scented forests, blazing rhododendrons, and Sherpa villages that feel like another lifetime. We’ll cross several suspension bridges today, but one will make your sports bra damp. The Hillary Suspension Bridge sways high above the river, draped in prayer flags—terrifying, iconic, and your new favorite photo op. Past Monjo, we officially enter Sagarmatha National Park. After a quick permit check and a stop in Jorsalle, the trail points up and doesn’t let go. This is our biggest climb of the trek through dense forest, but the reward is views of glacial rivers, dramatic ridgelines, and if skies are clear—our first peek at Mount Everest from Tok Tok. Miley’s The Climb is optional, but highly encouraged. By early evening, we roll into Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital carved into a natural amphitheater. It’s a vibrant mountain hub with cafes, bakeries that smell like carb heaven, gear shops, and even a spa if your dogs are barking. Max Altitude: Namche Bazaar – 11,286 ftTrekking Distance: 7.5 miles, 5–6 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected TeahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 4 – Acclimatization Day in Namche Altitude sickness is no joke, and today we give your body the best shot at thriving all the way to Base Camp. Namche Bazaar is the perfect place to acclimatize—Everest’s buzzing trading hub carved into the mountainside, where bakeries, gear shops, and Sherpa-run markets keep things lively at 11,286 feet. We’ll condition our lungs to the elevation and stretch our legs by hiking nearby destinations. We’ll hit Sherpa Cultural Museum, the OG badasses of Everest, where you’ll learn what it really means to live, climb, and thrive in this extreme world. Then it’s time to climb higher—past Syangboche Airport (the highest airstrip in Nepal) to Hotel Everest View, the highest hotel on the planet. From here, you’ll feast your eyes on Himalayan royalty: Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Thamserku all crowding the horizon. Max Altitude: Hotel Everest View – 12,730 ft / Namche Bazaar – 11,286 ftTrekking Distance: 3.4 miles, 4–5 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected TeahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 5 – Trek to Debuche via Tengboche Today we swap village views for larger-than-life mountain vistas. With every step past Namche, it just keeps getting better. The trail serves up a holy-crap combo of Himalayan eye candy and “is this my life?” energy. We kick things off with a gradual descent out of Namche, cruising along the Dudh Koshi River while the big names stalk us like needy exes: Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse. The path winds through rhododendron forests, rocky trails, and storybook bridges until we reach the riverside hamlet of Phungi Thenga. After a short rest (and pee break), the real work begins. The climb to Tengboche Monastery is steady and soul-stirring. Perched on a ridge, it’s the largest and most revered monastery in the region. If we arrive by mid-afternoon, we’ll witness a Buddhist chanting ceremony led by resident Lamas—an ancient Sherpa tradition that may just shake something loose in you. Afterward, we descend gently through the forest to Debuche, a quiet village wrapped in green and silence. Max Altitude: Tengboche – 12,664 ft / Debuche – 12,532 ftTrekking Distance: 7.1 miles, 5–6 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected TeahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 6 – Trek to Dingboche After a quiet night in Debuche, we step back onto the trail and deeper into the dream. The Khumbu Valley hike begins gently through cool alpine forest, the mountains stretching awake right along with you. Soon we cross the Imja Khola on a suspension bridge straight out of a movie. Ama Dablam rises like a dagger in the sky and stays with us all day—watching, towering, maybe admiring your cute hiker booty. Probably. The path winds past mani walls and sacred stones etched with Buddhist prayers, a spiritual breadcrumb trail leading us to Pangboche, home to one of the oldest monasteries in the region. From here, the trees fall away, the air grows thinner, and the landscape transforms into raw, high-altitude magic—stark, massive, and unforgettable. By late afternoon we roll into Dingboche, a windswept village of stone-walled fields nestled beneath towering peaks. Rugged, wild, and somehow still cozy. Max Altitude: Dingboche – 14,468 ftTrekking Distance: 6.5 miles, 5–6 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected TeahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 7 – Acclimatization in Dingboche This is your second altitude upgrade to make sure your body plays nice at high elevation. We’ll lace up for a steady climb to Nangkartsang Peak, where the summit serves up a jaw-dropping roll call: Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Cholatse, Taboche, and Ama Dablam all crowding the horizon. Yes—this trip will ruin other trips for you. After the hike, the choice is yours: wander Dingboche village, or kick back in the cozy teahouse and let your body recharge. Max Altitude: Nangkartsang Peak – 16,684 ft / Dingboche – 14,468 ftTrekking Distance: 3.2 miles, 4–5 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected TeahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 8 – Trek to Lobuche From Dingboche to Lobuche, we walk through beauty, grit, and ghost stories. The day begins with a gradual ascent through a wide alpine valley toward Thukla, with Taboche and Cholatse towering to the west. After a short rest in the hamlet, the energy shifts as the dreamscape transforms into Everest’s graveyard. The steep climb to Thukla Pass is crowned with a stone memorial honoring climbers and Sherpas who never made it back down. Draped in prayer flags, it’s a sobering moment that hits deep. From here, the trail flattens as we move along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, weaving through a raw, lunar landscape that feels ancient and alive. The final stretch into Lobuche is windswept and quiet, with Nuptse, Pumori, and Lobuche Peak rising around you. You’re close now. You can feel it. Max Altitude: Lobuche – 16,109 ftTrekking Distance: 5 miles, 5–6 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected Teahouse with shared toilets (best available at this altitude)Meals: B-L-D Day 9 – Everest Base Camp Summit Today you touch the dream. We start extra early with a carby breakfast, then head out from Lobuche across moonscape terrain toward Gorak Shep. The Khumbu Glacier sprawls beside us, framed by giants like Nuptse, Pumori, and Lingtren. At Gorak Shep, we pause to catch our breath, grab a snack, and mentally prep. Because this is it. Everest Base Camp is calling. The trail is brutal in the best way—icy, uneven, rugged—but the views of the Khumbu Icefall and surrounding peaks distract you from every burning step. And then, you arrive. 17,598 feet. The base of the tallest mountain on Earth. No summit banners. No medals. Just you, panoramic views of Everest, Nuptse, Khumbutse, and Pumori, and the holy weight of the moment. Expedition teams may be nearby, sharpening crampons and prepping for their push. You are among the few who have made it here—and earned it every step of the way. Once you re-enter your body, we retrace our steps back to Gorak Shep. Hearts full, legs wrecked, minds blown. Max Altitude: Everest Base Camp – 17,598 ft / Gorak Shep – 16,863 ftTrekking Distance: 7.3 miles, 8–9 hoursAccommodation: Hand-Selected Teahouse with shared squat toilets (best available at this altitude)Meals: B-L-D Day 10 – Kala Patthar Sunrise + Heli Back to Lukla This is the summit of your story. We rise in the dark chasing something almost mythic: Kala Patthar, the highest point of the EBC trek and the best damn view of Everest without summiting the beast herself. Scene: a golden sunrise exploding over Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori. The trail is steep, the air thin, but the payoff is panoramic glory. Take 300 photos (minimum) before descending back to Gorak Shep for a well-earned breakfast. After refueling, we trek down to Lobuche for your main-character exit: trading three days of pounding downhill for a 20-minute helicopter ride over the Khumbu Valley. Every wild step you took to get here now unfurls beneath you. Back in Lukla, the vibe shifts from rugged to reward. Our hand-picked lodge delivers crisp linens, hot showers, a cozy bar, fresh chef-prepared meals (with real meat!), and even an optional massage. Tonight, you rest your magical body in true Explorer Chick style. You. Did. That. Max Altitude: Kala Patthar – 18,225 ft / Lukla – 9,318 ftTrekking Distance: 5 miles, 4–6 hoursHelicopter Flight: 20 minutesAccommodation: Luxury teahouseMeals: B-L-D Day 11 – Heli to Kathmandu + Pashupatinath Temple One last ride through the clouds after breakfast. Board your heli for a 45-minute aerial tour over ridgelines, valleys, misty forests, and terraced hills that’ll make you feel like a glamorous beast with a private jet. Once we touch down in Kathmandu, our team will scoop you up and deliver you in style to Dwarika’s Hotel—a 5-star heritage masterpiece of carved Nepali woodwork, serene courtyards, bougie spa treatments, and poolside cocktails. After days of dust and boulders, it’s a luxurious exhale that your bunions will thank you for. In the evening, we’ll whisk you away to one of the holiest Hindu sites in the world: Pashupatinath Temple. Here, the Sandhya Aarati evening ritual fills the air with swirling incense, crackling firelight, and sacred chants. It’s a meditative vibe that’ll make your Calm app jealous. Afterward, it’s back to Dwarika’s where you can self-care until sleep. Max Altitude: Kathmandu – 4,593 ftHelicopter Flight: 45 minutesAccommodation: Luxury heritage hotelMeals: B Day 12 – Kathmandu’s UNESCO Icons + Farewell Feast Febreeze your hiking boots and slip into your Namaste sandals—we’re diving into the cultural soul of Kathmandu. After a massive breakfast, we’ll head out with a local guide (who actually has a personality) to explore two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Boudhanath Stupa – Massive, mystical, and one of the largest Buddhist monuments in the world. This is the beating heart of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. Walk the kora, spin a few prayer wheels, and soak in the energy. Bhaktapur Durbar Square – A living museum of medieval art and architecture with preserved temples, the 55-Window Palace, Nyatapola, courtyards, and timeless Newari culture. After marveling and manifesting, we’ll swing back to Dwarika’s. The afternoon is yours to sip masala chai, hit the spa, or nap like a queen. Tonight, we gather for a fine-dining Farewell Dinner—swapping stories, laughing too loud, and closing out our EBC adventure like the legends we are. Max Altitude: Kathmandu – 4,593 ftAccommodation: Luxury heritage hotelMeals: B-Farewell Dinner Day 13 – One Final Namaste Okay, but how do you say goodbye to something that changed you? Today we part ways, trading the chaos of Kathmandu traffic for the chaos of airport security lines. You’ve climbed into the clouds, collapsed into sweaty hugs, and stood in the shadow of the tallest mountain on Earth—all while the rest of the world was formatting a sales deck. One of our team members will escort you and your bag full of prayer flags to the airport. The only thing left? Naming the group chat. Suggestion: Those Everest Hoes. Meals: B Explorer Chick reserves the option to modify trip itineraries at the discretion of your tour director as necessary due to weather, flight conditions, illness, injury, group dynamics, availability, or other unforeseen incidents. Lodging Expand All Days Night 1 – Pre-Trek Stay: 4-Star Boutique Hotel, Kathmandu Kick off your Everest Base Camp adventure with a stay at a 4-star boutique hotel in the heart of Kathmandu. Just minutes from the buzzing streets of Thamel, it’s your stylish base for pre-trek prep. Expect upscale rooms, a rooftop pool, and warm Nepali hospitality—the perfect balance of convenience and comfort before heading into the mountains. Nights 2–9 – Trekking Teahouses Nicki, our Founder, hand-selected every teahouse along the trek for maximum comfort and Explorer Chick experience. Top of her list? En-suite toilets and electric blankets in every teahouse — an Explorer Chick exclusive you won’t find with other operators. Between the altitude, three liters of water a day, Diamox (if you’re taking it), and just being a woman, nature is bound to call sometime after midnight. We got you. She also scouted for cozy ambiance, welcoming lodge staff, comfy rooms, and yes—baked goods that hit different at 12,000 feet. That said, this is bougie with an asterisk. Teahouse rooms are very basic. Think twin beds, thin walls, and just enough space for you and your duffel. Only the communal dining areas are heated — the bedrooms are often colder than outside. That’s exactly why we make sure every bed has an electric blanket, so you can thaw out and actually sleep at altitude. The higher you go, the sparser the comforts. In Lobuche, bathrooms are shared. In Gorak Shep, you’ll encounter non-flushing squatty potties and no running water. Living and building at high altitude is tough—water freezes, supplies are limited, and “best available” sometimes means just that. But hey, these are the stories you’ll brag about to your boring friends back home. Come prepared, embrace it, and remember: you got this. Night 10 – Luxurious Lukla Teahouse Your trek deserves to end on a high note — so we finish at the most luxurious lodge in Lukla. Think real beds with crisp linens, hot showers that feel like miracles, and a cozy bar where you can toast your adventure. Fresh, chef-prepared meals (yes, with real meat!) and the option for a therapeutic massage make this the perfect place to celebrate and let it all sink in. Out of every spot in town, this is the one we chose — because nothing less would do after the mountain you just conquered. Nights 11–12 – Post-Trek Stay: The Dwarika’s Hotel After conquering Everest Base Camp, your journey closes with a well-deserved retreat at the legendary Dwarika’s Hotel, a 5-star sanctuary in Kathmandu. This award-winning heritage property blends old-world craftsmanship with modern indulgence — think carved woodwork, serene courtyards, and timeless Nepali architecture. Sip cocktails by the pool, indulge in restorative spa treatments, and savor world-class dining as you celebrate your accomplishment. After days on the trail, Dwarika’s isn’t just a hotel stay — it’s the luxurious exhale you’ve earned. Note: Lodging described in the itinerary is our planned stay, but it may vary based on availability. We always secure the best available option at the same standard. We require a minimum of 5 Explorer Chicks for this trip. Please confirm your trip is guaranteed before booking airfare. All 2026 EBC trips are confirmed. Activity Level 5 – HIGHLY STRENUOUS This is an epic adventure whose intensity should not be discounted due to the popularity of the destination. The trek to Everest Base Camp is a multi-day hike in alpine conditions, with elevations ranging from 8,563 feet at Phakding to 18,225 feet at Kala Patthar. Thin air, rugged trails, and long hiking days make this a true Level 5 Explorer Chick adventure. While you don’t need technical climbing skills, you do need stamina, grit, and mental toughness to thrive in the Khumbu Valley. Altitude: For the entire trek, you’ll be above 8,000 feet, where everyone is at risk for altitude sickness regardless of age or fitness level. Symptoms may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, or stomach upset. Our itinerary includes acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche to help your body adjust. Explorer Chick provides guides trained in altitude awareness and safety protocols, but all guests must take symptoms seriously. Heights: Expect thrilling suspension bridge crossings, including the iconic Hillary Bridge. Trails are well-defined. Your guides will set the pace, support you, and ensure safety through exposed sections. Pack Animals: The Khumbu trails are shared with yaks, donkeys, and dzopkyos (yak-cow hybrids). They haul supplies between villages and always have the right of way. You’ll often find yourself pressed up close to stone walls or stepping aside as long trains of animals pass. It’s part of the living rhythm of the trek, and your guides will show you how to safely share the trail. Digestive Health: Gastrointestinal issues are common on the EBC trek. The combination of higher altitude, limited hygiene in remote tea houses, and exposure to pack animals along the trail increases the risk of bacteria or other contaminants. Practicing good hand hygiene, avoiding meat, drinking treated or bottled water, and carrying doctor-prescribed medications specifically for traveler’s diarrhea plus over the counter medicine can help you stay prepared. Before Your Trip: Some pre-existing medical conditions may worsen at high altitude and be difficult to treat on the trail. It’s essential you discuss your health and medications with your doctor. Diamox or other altitude medications may be recommended by your physician to aid acclimatization. Daily Hiking: Day 2: 5.1 miles. 1,430’ descent. 8,563’ altitude. Moderate. Day 3: 7.5 miles. 2,723’ ascent. 11,286’ altitude. Strenuous. Day 4: 3.4 miles. 1,441’ gain/loss (acclimatization hike). 12,730’ altitude. Moderate. Day 5: 7.1 miles. 1,755’ ascent. 12,664’ altitude. Challenging. Day 6: 6.5 miles. 1,936’ ascent. 14,468’ altitude. Challenging. Day 7: 3.2 miles. 2,274’ ascent (acclimatization hike). 16,684’ altitude. Challenging. Day 8: 5 miles. 1,641’ ascent. 16,109’ altitude. Challenging. Day 9: 7.3 miles. 1,489’ ascent. 17,598’ altitude. Strenuous. Day 10: 5 miles. 1,362’ ascent to Kala Patthar. 18,225’ altitude. Strenuous. Helicopter exit from Lobuche to Lukla eliminates 2–3 days of downhill trekking. Please consider your ability to meet the physical demands very seriously. It is for the safety of both you and our group. All Explorer Chicks are required to sign an Acknowledgement of Physical Demands as part of their waiver upon booking. Read more about our Activity Levels. Safety Disclaimer: Your safety and the safety of the group is always our top priority. Explorer Chick reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to remove any guest from a trek—or to support a guest in voluntarily opting out—if circumstances arise that may impact the physical or mental health, safety, or overall well-being of that guest or the group. This includes, but is not limited to, situations involving sickness, injury, altitude-related issues, or mental health concerns. Our guides and leadership team have final authority in making these decisions, with safety as our guiding principle. Guests who are removed from or choose to opt out of a trek will be responsible for any additional accommodations, transfers, or expenses incurred outside of the advertised itinerary.
