Photos Itinerary Expand All Days Day 1 - Geysers Gone Wild: Old Faithful & Grand Prismatic We’ll meet bright and early at 7:00 AM at our rendezvous hotel in Jackson. Fuel up and get ready, because we’re kicking off this adventure with a geothermal bang. After we hit the road, our first stop is the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park, home to nearly half of all the geysers on Earth. Yup, half. That includes the Grand Daddy of them all: Old Faithful, erupting roughly 20 times a day. We’ll spend the morning walking the entire length of the Upper Basin boardwalks, taking in bubbling pools, spouting steam vents, and rainbow-hued thermal features. At the end, our SHE-nanigan Shuttle will be waiting to whisk us off to our next stop: the Midway Geyser Basin. Here we’ll hike the Fairy Falls Trail to a stunning overlook of Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in Yellowstone—and the third largest in the world. Spoiler: it’s even more jaw-dropping in person. After our geyser-filled day, we’ll roll into the charming town of West Yellowstone, where we’ll check into our cozy, locally owned inn. Then it’s time to gather for a yummy welcome dinner and toast to the wild days ahead. Transfer Times: Jackson to Upper Basin: 2.5 hours Grand Prismatic Spring to West Yellowstone: 50 mins Hiking Distance: Roughly 6.8 miles and relatively flat Accommodation: West Yellowstone Lodge (Night 1 of 2) Meals: L, D Day 2 - Yellowstone Icons: Grand Canyon & Mount Washburn Going to Yellowstone without standing over the Grand Canyon is like going to Target without wandering the decor section… impossible. After breakfast at our Lodge, we’ll head to chase waterfalls. A good chunk of the morning will be spent chasing stunning overlooks along the South Rim. We’ll hike Clear Lake Loop to hit the best viewpoints and stretch our gams on what might be Yellowstone’s greatest hike. After lunch, we’ll head out on the trails again to hike to the summit of Mount Washburn at 10,219’ elevation! Along the trail, we’ll have opportunities for wildlife viewing, wildflowers, and breathtaking views from the summit. Transfer time: West Yellowstone to Clear Lake Trail: 1.5 hours Hiking Distances: Clear Lake Loop: 3.9 miles/423’ elevation gain Mount Washburn: 6.8 miles/1,398’ elevation gain Accommodation: West Yellowstone Lodge (Night 2 of 2) Meals: B, L, D Day 3 - Norris Bains + Mammoth Hot Springs Today’s stacked with top-secret stops that’ll make you feel like a giddy 8-year-old again. After breakfast, we say goodbye to West Yellowstone with a quick hello to Gibbon Falls—an 84-foot drop over ancient volcanic rock. Then it’s off to Norris Basin to stretch our legs and geek out over milky blue pools, steamy vents, and some spicy little thermophiles. Next up? A hidden trail to the backdoor of Mammoth Hot Springs—no crowds, all wow. Think alien rock formations, secret wildlife sightings, and ever-changing travertine terraces that look straight outta another planet. After snapping pics and soaking in the scenery (no soaking in the springs, sorry!), we roll into Gardiner. You’ll have some free time to wander, peek into shops, or rest before a well-deserved dinner. Distance: 4 miles (not including stops along the way) Elevation Gain: 860’ Hiking Time: 4 hours Accommodation: Gardiner Inn (Night 1 of 2) Meals: B, L, D Day 4 - Wolves, Rivers, & Hot Springs Soaks Rise and shine, Explorer Chicks—it’s fang, fur, and feather time! We’re off to Lamar Valley to (hopefully!) spot Yellowstone’s elusive grey wolves. Manifest those sightings while we sip hot drinks and meet our badass Wildlife Guide. Eyes wide for bison, bears, pronghorn, eagles, and yes—even red squirrels if you’re the squeal-and-point type. We’ll cruise through landscapes peppered with Hoodoos and basalt columns, soaking in the wild vibes. After our wildlife tour, we’ll hit a stunning ridge trail along the Yellowstone River with swoon-worthy views and serious “look at us go” energy. We’ll refuel with tasty bites, make a few surprise scenic stops, and wrap the day in the one hot spring you can actually soak in—just in time for sunset. Kick back, soak it up, and get ready—tomorrow’s grand finale is coming in hot. Distance: 4.2 miles Elevation Gain: 665’ Hiking Time: 3 hours Transfer Time: 1 hour 15 minutes Accommodation: Inn Gardiner (Night 2 of 2), shared Meals: B-L-D Day 5 - Summit Avalanche Peak and Yellowstone Lake Get ready to earn that badass badge because today we’re tackling Avalanche Peak. This one’s no joke: straight up, straight down, through pine forests, wildflower meadows, and a final scramble over rugged talus. At 10,568ʹ, the summit serves up epic 360° views over Yellowstone. On a clear day, the Tetons wave at us from 50 miles out. It’s windy and exposed up there, so layer up and lunch like legends at the top. After soaking in the summit glory, we’ll chill lakeside at Yellowstone Lake with a laid-back waterfront bite. Then it’s wheels up to Jackson Hole, baby! We’re swapping geysers for glam and diving into two nights of Teton magic. Hiking Distance: 4.6 miles RT. Elevation Gain: 2,000′ Hiking Time: 5-6 hours Transfer Time: 2 hours + 2 hours Accommodation: Jackson (Night 1 of 2) Meals: B, L, D Day 6 - E-Biking Grand Teton National Park We’re wrapping up our wild adventure with one more epic experience: biking through the breathtaking beauty of Grand Teton National Park. This scenic loop winds through peaceful roads and paved pathways, surrounded by soaring peaks, wide-open sagebrush flats, and maybe even a curious critter or two. The terrain is mostly flat, making it a smooth and totally rewarding ride. With the Tetons towering beside us, it’s the perfect sendoff to an unforgettable trip. We’ll pause mid-ride for a tasty picnic lunch with million-dollar views, because Explorer Chicks don’t do ordinary. Back in Jackson Hole, you’ll have some free time to shop, sip, or simply stroll the charming town square before we gather one last time for our farewell dinner. Raise a glass—you’ve earned it. In Her Words Laurie R.Had a fabulous time in Yellowstone with awesome guides Mary and Savannah. Learned so much about wildlife (wolves are cool, bears are not that scary when you learn the ropes, bison are huge, and elks are lazy) and about the thermal activity in Yellowstone (Magma plumes rock), but my favorite thing was hiking in paradise (Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and above Yellowstone River). Such a wonderful experience with a fun group. Mary and Savannah just rocked as our fearless leaders! Can’t wait to try another adventure with Explorer Chicks!Francine O.Wonderful adventure at Yellowstone NP and Grand Tetons with Explorer Chicks! The trip was SO well planned and PACKED with beautiful hikes to waterfalls, up mountains and through some of the most beautiful canyons I’d ever seen. Don’t hesitate to book a trip with Explorer Chick, I am already so excited for my next one!!!!!!!!Amber D.I recently had the chance to enjoy the Yellowstone and Grand Tetons trip with Explorer Chick guides Lauren and Kirstie. Their organized and laid back attitude had me trusting every part of this amazing journey. I appreciated their concern for safety in the wilderness, care for the great outdoors, and cooking skills. My personal goals to prove to myself that I could accomplish my bucket list items and step outside my comfort zone... way outside my comfort zone... were supported by these two amazing guides and new friendships built the rest of the women who share similar hopes and dreams.
