“WOW, Explorer Chick….just wow! I was not sure what exactly to expect, but our two guides, Savannah and Lindsey, superseded expectations beyond my imagination. It seemed like the entire trip, I was being catered to, from the beautiful condo we stayed at, to the deliciously healthy meals they prepared down to the plethora of snack options they had for the group. All we had to do is wake up, get ready and the entire day was thoughtfully planned and arranged for us. I have a gluten allergy also and our guides made certain that part was taken care of, without issue because that meant a lot to me. I went alone but met some wonderful women and left with some like-minded new friends. What an amazing experience, Savannah and Lindsey were the perfect blend of adventure, hospitality, experience, consideration and humor. “This is the first “blind date” girls trip I have ever taken, and I was so glad I did. I have 4 boys, and so I often forget how women support and love each other…in an entirely different way than the male sex does! Traveling with women that I have never met was a lovely experience; one that all women should experience. I am a doctor with 4 grown boys, and having 2 Explorer Chick guide “Moms” that dispensed sunscreen, snacks, bandaids, hand sanitizer, and more to “take care of me” was beyond lovely. FINALLY- I didn’t have to be the one in control! I suspect most of you reading this review are moms, with careers, and most of you probably know how difficult it is to balance different levels of ability in your kiddos, your staff, and your daily interactions. The guides took a complex group of women with different experiences in life, different fears, and different physical capabilities and tended to each one of us as we challenged ourselves both physically and mentally. I took my first Explorer Chick trip in June, and before I got home, I was planning my next EC adventure! “This was my first EC adventure. Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect and almost decided not to go at the last minute. My fear was that I would arrive and be surrounded by 20 somethings and they would all be physically ready for anything. That wasn’t the case, there were women of all ages and sizes. “I can only speak in superlatives when describing this trip! I came home with an empowerment afterglow that would scare both bears and men. Per usual, I was worried I would be problematic, holding back the group, dragging everyone behind, and causing the rest of the group to mumble under their breath about this woman who “shouldn’t be here.” While I am relieved I trained, I couldn’t have been more wrong about group dynamics. Our guides created a sense of camaraderie among us, and supported each of us in incredible ways that produced an experience that I suspect will not be forgotten by any of us. Our group included women in their 30’s to “almost” 70 and all body types. We laughed and snorted and sang and encouraged and overcame and we all probably thought we were going to die at one point or another- BUT WE DIDN’T. If you are considering travel with Explorer Chick, just do it. Train, know what you’re getting into, but push yourself to do it. “I can’t say enough positive things about this women-led business that focuses on empowering all women to challenge themselves (Easy Doesn’t Change You). I recently completed my 5th trip with Explorer Chicks last week. Before my first trip in 2018 I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up. After 5 trips I can assure you that Explorer Chicks attract a very diverse group. For my Smokies trip, ages ranged from 30s to 60s. My co-hikers came from all over the country with different ethnicities and backgrounds. The guides are what really make this company unique (shout out to Lauren and Kimberly). Explorer Chicks hires partners who excel at building a cohesive group. In this trip only two of the hikers knew each other before the trip. The remaining 8 were solo travelers.
